     My product uses conventions of my genre - photography - because it follows a similar cover, table of contents, and article format; however, some conventions are challenged in my cover page. I used a large rectangle to hold some of my text, while a lot of magazines do not do this. I used this transparent rectangle because it made the text readable and stand out against my cover photo. My table of contents is a bit more conventional: it follows a similar format that I studied in other photography magazines, with a few featured articles on the left-hand side and photos on the right. My article follows conventions as well. The page numbers are placed conventionally and the photos are scattered throughout the article. At the end of the passage, I even have a small "T" icon that stands for Technique . This is because I noticed many magazines have a small logo after each of their articles, so I implemented this into my own product.      The magazine that I ...

     The photo shown above is the cover page of my magazine, titled Technique . I deviated from my cover page template a bit by changing the placement of my featured articles as well as changing the font of my title from Arial Black to Bodoni MT Poster Compressed. I did this because I realized that Arial Black was the default font and looked much too general and bland. For the font of the smaller text, I chose Bahnschrift Semibold because it looks clean and professional.      I selected this photo for my magazine cover because it shows someone taking a picture, which directly correlates to the topic of my magazine: photography. When adding this image to the page, I had to switch the positioning of my text. I moved the text to the left because it balanced out the composition of my picture and reflected the style of other photography magazines I have studied.      Like the cover, my table of contents has diverged from its first layout...

To get the most authentic location for the interview in my magazine, I took pictures in my interviewee's classroom. This way I could capture Debra Markley in her everyday setting and get photos of her working. This location was easier to schedule as well, since I could visit Markley in her room instead of having to plan to go to a complicated location. The images used in the article in my magazine are shown above while the photos of the classroom are shown below.

I took photos of Debra Markley, an art teacher at Sarasota High School. Some of these pictures are in the "My Art Journey" article in my magazine, in which Markley is interviewed. To schedule the photo shoot, I talked to Markley in person and asked if I could take a few pictures of her. Once we had confirmed a time, we continued with the photo session. The pictures that I used in "My Art Journey" are shown above this text, and the original photos as well as some other pictures from this photo shoot are displayed below.

This location was very expansive and beautiful, which was perfect for taking photos. There are many different spots to take pictures to diversify my photo shoot at this location, which made it an excellent place to have a photo shoot - even if it did get quite hot after a while. The picture I used in my table of contents are shown above, and the pictures from the location are below this text.

I did this photo session to demonstrate portrait photography in my magazine. To schedule this photo shoot, I contacted my friend and asked if she could be a model in the magazine I am creating. She replied that she would be happy to, and so we discussed a time and place to meet. We decided on Hyde Park, a local park in my region. We had a bit of trouble locating each other because the area was very expansive, but we were eventually situated and able to take many pictures. The final picture I used in my table of contents is shown above this text while the original version of the photo is shown below along with some other images from the photo shoot.

I chose this location - my house - because it was very sensible to do so. Because of this location choice, I did not need to schedule anything; all I had to do was come home and photograph my dog. Due to this convenience, I got many pictures of my "model" in a few diverse poses. This allowed me to have a wide variety of options to choose from when I was selecting the final photo, which is shown above. I took some pictures inside my house and some in my backyard, but ultimately chose to use one of the images from indoors.
